Day 3

Had porridge for breakfast with the WUST students at a shop nearby. The porridge is sticky unlike the one in Singapore but it still tastes good. There is a large variety of porridge which is keep inside a number of pots. The porridge make me feel warmer in the cold weather. After that we rented a private van to go to a shopping mall called Xin Ming Zhong Le Yuan. The students teach us to bargain the price to as low as possible for the things that we want so as to avoid being cheated by the locals. We went for steamboat after shopping; it is definitely the best time to eat due to the cold weather. After which we proceeded to take the public bus to Huan Le Kong Jian to have a karaoke session from 7 to 9pm.

My Reflection

It is the first time I took the official public transport at Wuhan and the feeling was great. We immersed into their culture and inhaled the different experiences we faced throughout our journey. There were obstacles along the way such as the anxiousness of being lost and the hopeless feeling of finding our way out without a map on our hands. Thankfully, there are always those Wuhan students leading and guiding us throughout. Without them, we will be adrift and off track as we had completely clueless on navigating the roads of Wuhan. However, the service level of the customer service personnel is not as wonderful as I had expected. The efficiency rates were slow as they were not mindful of those customers which they are serving. We were neglected especially during the karaoke session; the staffs were not coordinating well with each other. Hence it took us plentiful of time to figure out that we had just settled our bills before we begin the session. There were confusion and despite having such a misunderstanding which stood our time, not a single apology was recognized from them. On the other hand, Wuhan people are a curious bunch of all. I witnessed an incident where there was a woman lying down and she was surrounded with a huge pool of passersby till the ambulance arrived and took her away. I admitted I had been wondering the reason behind the large amount of spectators and wanted to take a look. However, the crowd disperse readily after the ambulance took off, leaving several onlookers still standing there.
